About the Cycling Handyman
Professional, reliable, and carbon-neutral local repairs right across Colinton, Oxgangs, and beyond.
Eco-Friendly Repairs for Southwest Edinburgh
Hi, I’m Doug, your local Cycling Handyman. Based in the heart of EH13 (Colinton/Oxgangs),
I provide a reliable property maintenance and repair service delivered entirely by cargo e-bike.
I believe home repairs shouldn’t cost the Earth—or log-jam our historic, narrow Edinburgh streets with diesel vans.
Why Support Our E-Bike Mission?
- No Emissions: Clean, quiet transport running on renewable electrical charge.
- No Parking Delays: I roll straight up to your home, avoiding permit zones and tickets.
- Always Punctual: I navigate past the Edinburgh traffic bypass queues and city-center bottlenecks.
Meet Doug
My working life has been diverse, from print shops to commercial facilities. Over the years, I’ve worked across practically every domestic and commercial environment imaginable—homes, schools, offices, care homes, clubs, factories, and universities. This extensive background has taught me how to problem-solve and work around all sorts of schedules. I’m family-orientated, passionate about green travel, and always happy to work in homes with pets, busy children, and even difficult mothers-in-law! My simple working motto is: “If you borrow something, return it in better condition.”
Our Southwest Edinburgh Service Map
To keep our services prompt and eco-friendly, my primary service focus is a 2-mile radius centered around EH13 9LD, covering:
Outwith this 2-mile area? No problem. Half-day and Full-day rates are available for all of Edinburgh.
Because I travel by cargo e-bike, there are minor logistical boundaries for larger jobs:
- Materials: Bulky components (such as new doors, laminate flooring packs, structural timber, or large tiles) must be ordered and delivered on-site prior to my arrival. I supply all necessary expert tools, high-strength screws, adhesives, and fixings.
- Waste: I sweep, vacuum, and clean the work area thoroughly, placing offcuts, sawdust, and empty packaging into heavy-duty waste bags. The physical disposal of these bags remains the customer’s responsibility.
