Shower Silicone Sealant Replacement on Elliot Road

Project Showcase

Restoring a mouldy mosaic tile shower base to a pristine, watertight finish in EH14.

The Challenge

A client on Elliot Road (near Craiglockhart/Colinton) was experiencing failed bathroom sealant. Because the shower features intricate mosaic floor tiling, the perimeter joint was highly uneven. Over time, water had breached the old silicone, causing unsightly black mould to take hold along the tile edges, risking a major subsurface leak.

The Process

A proper reseal requires meticulous preparation, especially with small tiles. Using dedicated tools, I executed a complete turnaround:

  • Carefully raked and stripped out 100% of the degraded silicone without damaging the mosaic elements.
  • Deep-cleaned, sterilised, and completely dried the exposed grout joints to kill off remaining mould spores.
  • Masked up the work zone and laid down a high-grade, premium anti-fungal silicone bead designed to resist moisture and discoloration.

The Agile E-Bike Advantage

Carrying all industrial stripping tools, premium sealants, and cleaning agents in my e-bike cargo trailer allowed me to arrive promptly on Elliot Road. No diesel fumes, no parking permit stress—just a clean, quiet, and highly efficient service that left the bathroom looking brand new.
